Need scissors? Ask Matt

We made it! Is it okay to say I never want to fly on a flight that long again? Probably not since we do it again next Friday. Ha!

Delta was THE best. We were very impressed with their service from beginning to end. I highly recommend them. We were in the very back of the plane on our long flight...two boys in front of us, and us on the last row. It was a 777 and all other rows had 3 seats (3 on each side and 3 in middle). It worked out in that we didn't bother anyone else...it was just the 4 of us in our little corner of the plane.

I was able to take my diuretics and had easy access to the restroom. I HATE feeling like people are staring at you and let's face it, if you get up 35 times in a 3 hour period to go to the bathroom, people around you are going to notice. But being in the back row, I just did what I wanted, when I wanted and no one knew any different. It's such a little thing, but really made me happy to not have that issue.

And we were right next to where they get food, clean up, throw things away, etc... we got drinks whenever we asked, threw things away ourselves (so you're not sitting there praying Nathan won't kick over his drink), had access to extra paper towels (for when Nathan did kick over his drink)...all in all, great seats! The flight attendants heard me call Andy "Babe" once and so that's what they called him any time they talked to him "Babe are you done with your meal?" or "Babe, would you like some more to drink?" It amused me a great deal.

We stopped in Tokyo at Narita Airport to catch our plane to Taiwan. We had to go through security in the international part of the airport and since we had gone through security in Tulsa, emptied out bags, took off shoes, showed them all the meds, swabbed the oxygen concentrator, etc... we figured it would be an easy check of it all.

We're standing there waiting for the bags to be scanned, and of all the bags they wanted to open and look into, it was Matt's backpack. Of course we agreed and they immediately found a pair of scissors. As in,  your mom's sewing scissors. As in, full on, adult size, SCISSORS! Nothing warms a mom's heart better than listening to the Japanese security personnel discuss this discovery and wave them around, point at Matt, and then discuss it some more. I was so proud.

Of course we allowed them to take the scissors. We don't know how or when they made their way to his bag. I'm guessing that it was a last minute stash by one of us when the movers were packing and left them in a drawer or something. I dunno, but Matt certainly had them all excited.

Ever since, we keep asking him if we can borrow his scissors.. "Oh wait, that's right, you had them CONFISCATED by Japanese police." lol Cracks me up every time.

We flew "with the sun" if you will so it was always daylight. We had some amazing views of Canada and Alaska. We also met some missionaries on the plane. They were headed to Taiwan to attend the graduation of some students they had once taught. They were older and have traveled the world sharing God's word. It was pretty cool visiting with them.

Canada was beautiful!

After we landed in Taiwan the boys woke up. Matt was out of it.
