Our apartment in Taipei

Wow! This place is amazing! The people are so friendly and it's been nothing but a great experience so far.

Let's see, the apartment was not really ready for us to arrive until the 25th. They had emailed us with confirmation of the 24th and fortunately I printed that out and had it with me. They eventually worked it out and we went to our apartment.

Hotel rooms in Taipei are almost exclusively for two adults...and that's it. This 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment is perfect for a family traveling together. We would have had to get two hotel rooms (and then smuggle Katelyn in) and the price would actually be more than what we're paying.

The first night we couldn't figure out the a/c. We got it working (completely by accident) in our bedroom. The main living area and the boys' room was, well..hot. We kept all the doors open and turned the a/c up full blast. It's run by a remote (different a/c in each area with it's own remote) and you have to aim it at the sensor in the ceiling. All of the writing is in Mandarin and it's in Celsius. You should see us converting the temperature on the computer, then praying before we hit each button..praying we don't turn the heat on.

It's a really nice place and in a good area. It does advertise that it has a washer and dryer. We had to laugh at that.....Here's the washer which is located on the balcony.

And here's the dryer...

Yes, those are hangers and hooks on the bars overhead. lol

And that is even more entertaining when you know that Andy forgot all of his shorts. As in, the only ones he has here are the ones he was wearing on the plane and a pair of athletic shorts. We have baby clothes for St. Lucy's, and clothes for Katelyn, but no shorts for Andy. He does have some jeans and dockers.

We were eventually told that there is a washer and dryer on the roof..just have to find it when it's empty. At least we can wash his shorts every other day. lol

From our balcony we can see Taipei 101. Until 2004 it was the tallest building in Asia. It's pretty amazing and I'll share more of that later. It's very densely populated and we are surrounded by apartment homes. People are all over and it's quite an experience!

They have a "dryer" like we do!
